Coach Darko has advised the Board that for personal reasons he won’t be available to coach Tsunami next year. The head coach position and NCL travel takes a great deal of time away from his work and family. On behalf of all of the members of our Club we thank Coach Darko for all of his efforts for the Club and we wish him well in the future.
We are currently searching for a new head coach and we will be working with the Alberta Water Polo Association and Water Polo Canada to find a suitable replacement for next season.
The u16 boys played their first NCL tournament in Surrey, BC December 4-6. They did really well considering that these games were their first competitive games of the season. They lost 4 games and drew 1. The drawn game against Wild from Calgary could have been won by the team. Calgary got a penalty in the last seconds of the game resulting in a goal and a tie. There were many positives to take away from the weekend. By the end of the weekend they were playing well as a team and showing terrific team spirit. We expect the team to do well at the next tournament in Calgary starting Friday January 15th. Have a look at the photographs now posted on the Club website.

This weekend Edmonton is hosting a U14 and U12 provincial tournament. It is important that all athletes attend to make sure that we have enough players for each game. Additionally, the games can not take place if we don’t have volunteers for minor official positions. Below is the link to the minor officials schedule. Please sign up for more than just our games as we need to make sure all games have volunteers. Since our older athletes are not practicing this weekend they should also be helping out by volunteering as minor officials.
