Headcoach, Darko Slankamenac, was born and raised in Serbia, where water polo is as much a part of the culture as hockey is in Canada. Darko is a former professional water polo player who was a division I goalie for the PROLETER WPC in Serbia. Darko brings with him more than 26 years of experience playing and coaching water polo. In his first year as headcoach of Edmonton Tsunami, Darko applied his expertise and technical training in water polo to help transform a group of novice Atom boys into a team of skilled players. In the coming season, Darko is committed to further developing our club. The 2007-2008 season will include a Tsunami Bantom Girls Team, a Tsunami Bantom Boys Team (born 1995 & 1994) and a Tsunami Atom Boys/Girls Team (born 1996 and later). Here is Darko's message to club members and new players. "Water polo is a sport where the players learn to work together as a team. They learn to push each other and more importantly, push themselves while maintaining a strong academic standing. As we near the beginning of my second season with Edmonton Tsunami Water Polo Club, I couldn’t be more excited with the direction of the club. This season promises bigger and better things than ever before. My goal is to help more people in our community learn about water polo and, at the same time, develop character and sportsmanship. I look forward to seeing you at the pool in September." DARKO'S BIOGRAPHY:
