A Message From Our President
Dear Tsunami,
First I would like to welcome everyone back to another year of water polo. As we reminisce over the past few years, we have so much to be proud of. We finished the year with several team awards, both at the provincial level, and the national level. We had three NCAA scholarships awarded, athletes sent across the globe to represent Canada and Alberta, coaches that were selected at provincial and national levels, and have maintained a high reputation in the community, as shown by our registration numbers moving into this 2019/2020 season. In addition to these successes, we watched a former Tsunami athlete make it all the way to the women’s Senior National team, and we look forward to cheering her on as she heads to Tokyo to compete at the Olympics next year! Though only a dream for many young athletes, it has now become a reality for our hardworking alumni, and we couldn’t be more proud.
Congratulations to Kindred Paul and her family, who all played a role, whether it was support or constant dedication, your presence encouraged Kindred to challenge herself to be her best! It’s an amazing win for Tsunami as a club! These achievements would not be possible without the amazing leadership of our head coach Raine Paul, as well as all of the coaches that have been part of our program since we began.
We now begin our new season with more hopes and dreams, and a desire to set higher standards and expectations for both our coaches and athletes. We are focused on providing our families with another amazing Tsunami season, and continue to grow and develop as a club, learning both from our past successes, as well as from our miss-steps. Adjusting our program to be even stronger. We are continually focusing on the quality of our coaching, and will persevere in building a coaching program that is second to none. We have put our resources into a program that is now being sought after nationwide, and I am thrilled to see the excitement in our coaches, whose goals are to push our athletes to becoming both stronger teammates, and individuals.
Our goal as a board is to continue our focus on the following three areas:
- Budget – Continue to work at maintaining the quality of our programming, while still allowing the sport to be affordable to our
members. - Sustainability – Continue to maintain our steady growth and lifelong support for all involved. Our desire is to have each of our
families fall in love with the sport of water polo. - Communication – Increase our efficiency so all families can be informed and thus find it easier to get involved.
As I conclude, I’d like to personally encourage all of our families to become involved in our club. Parent involvement is more important now than ever before, and in order for us to continue with our success, it will take active participation from all our club families.
Thank you!
Kelly
